The Information Principle
نویسنده
چکیده
The conventional wisdom is that the concept of information is closely related to the concept of probability. In Shannon's information theory, information is equated to a reduction in entropy—a probabilistic concept. In this paper, a different view of information is put on the table. Information is equated to restriction. More concretely, a restriction is a limitation on the values which a variable can take. The concept of a restriction is more general than the concept of a constraint and the concept of a probability distribution. There are three principal kinds of restrictions: possibilistic, probabilistic and bimodal. A bimodal restriction is a combination of possibilistic and probabilistic restrictions. Underlying the restriction-centered approach to information is what may be called the Information Principle. Briefly stated, the Information Principle has two parts. (a) There are three principal types of information: possibilistic information, probabilistic information and bimodal information. Bimodal information is a combination of possibilistic information and probabilistic information. (b) Possibilistic information and probabilistic information are underivable (orthogonal), in the sense that neither is derivable from the other. Information is all around us. And yet, there is widespread unawareness of the existence of the Information Principle. In particular, what is not recognized is that possibilistic information and probabilistic information are underivable (orthogonal). An important empirical observation is that propositions in a natural language are carriers of predominantly fuzzy possibilistic and fuzzy bimodal information. Existing systems of reasoning and computation—other than fuzzy logic—do not have the capability to reason and compute with fuzzy bimodal information. 1 Department of EECS, University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720-1776; Telephone: 510-642-4959; E-Mail: [email protected]. Various approached have been introduced to extract as much as information form seismic image for any specific reservoir or geological study. Modeling of faults and fractures are among the most attracted objects for interpretation in geological study on seismic images that several strategies have been presented for this specific purpose. In this study, we have presented a modified approach of ap...
متن کاملThe Principle of Relativity: From Ungar’s Gyrolanguage for Physics to Weaving Computation in Mathematics
This paper extends the scope of algebraic computation based on a non standard $times$ to the more basic case of a non standard $+$, where standard means associative and commutative. Two physically meaningful examples of a non standard $+$ are provided by the observation of motion in Special Relativity, from either outside (3D) or inside (2D or more), We revisit the ``gyro''-theory ...
متن کاملDouble Fuzzy Implications-Based Restriction Inference Algorithm
The main condition of the differently implicational inferencealgorithm is reconsidered from a contrary direction, which motivatesa new fuzzy inference strategy, called the double fuzzyimplications-based restriction inference algorithm. New restrictioninference principle is proposed, which improves the principle of thefull implication restriction inference algorithm. Furthermore, focusing on the ...

In this paper, we firstly show that the $N$-dual operation of the right residual implication, which is induced by a left-conjunctive right arbitrary $vee$-distributive left semi-uninorm, is the right residual coimplication induced by its $N$-dual operation. As a dual result, the $N$-dual operation of the right residual coimplication, which is induced by a left-disjunctive right arbitrary $wedge...

As a generalization of the triple I method, the universal triple Imethod is investigated from the viewpoints of both fuzzy reasoningand fuzzy controller. The universal triple I principle is putforward, which improves the previous triple I principle. Then, unified form of universal triple I method is established based onthe (0,1)-implication or R-implication. Moreover, the reversibilityproperty o...
